The evolution of display technology has been swift and dramatic. Just a few decades ago, the best option available was a monochromatic display made up of incandescent lightbulbs, which was neither visually appealing nor energy efficient. The technology behind light-emitting diodes has existed for over 100 years, but it was only about 30 years ago that LEDs became bright enough to be practical to use in displays. L-shaped LED displays allow an image to wrap around a corner but are limited in capabilities. Seamless corner technology eliminates many of these limitations.
Advantages of Seamless Corner Technology
Once considered the technological cutting edge, an L-shaped LED display consists of two panels set up at right angles to one another that can be programmed to display a continuous image so that it seems to wrap around a corner. However, this technology has its limitations. The most obvious is the seam between the two panels that appears as a black line down the middle. This disrupts the image. A similar issue arises with other technology that may be used to produce an image that wraps around a corner, such as LCD displays surrounded by bevels.
Another limitation of an L-shaped LED display is that, because of its perpendicular nature, it can only fit on building corners that are 90 degrees. If you want to set up a display on a corner with a wider angle, you are out of luck. However, this is not the case with seamless corner technology. In addition to 90 degrees, it can also be applied at 115 degrees and 135 degrees.
These various solutions also increase the viewing angle from which your audience can see the image. Compared to a flat LED display, which has a viewing angle of only 180 degrees, a 90-degree display offers a viewing angle of 270 degrees, while a 135-degree display offers a viewing angle of 225 degrees.
Because seamless viewing technology eliminates the black line where two panels meet, viewers see a continuous image over both planes with no distortion. The secret behind our patented seamless corner displays is a triple louver design in which we create a third panel that overlaps the other two.
Advantages of Light-Emitting Diodes
Besides the ability to create a seamless corner that would be impossible with other display technologies, such as LCD displays or incandescent bulbs, the use of LEDs offers other significant advantages. Compared to LCD displays, LED offers better black levels, which results in higher contrast. This is enhanced by our triple-louver design. LEDs consume approximately the same amount of power but produce little to no heat, meaning that they are much more energy-efficient and safer, since there is less chance of the heat igniting a fire.
While incandescent bulbs have a useful life of approximately 1,000 to 2,000 hours and fluorescent bulbs last for 10,000 to 25,000 hours, LEDs have an estimated useful life of 35,000 to 50,000 hours. This estimate, which comes from the United States Department of Energy, may even be a bit conservative. At least one study has shown experimental LEDs to last twice that long. This means that LEDs do not need to be replaced as often as other light sources. However, if a component becomes worn out or damaged, it may be possible to replace only the affected module rather than the entire display.
The most effective displays are equally visible by day and night. LCD displays and projections are often not bright enough to overcome the glare from direct sunlight, meaning that they are harder to see during the day. LEDs are brighter than either of these other technologies, meaning that your display is more visible during the daytime, which helps you to attract more attention. Not only that, but LED displays also tend to be more aesthetically pleasing due to the crisp, focused light they provide and the wide range of colors available.
Advantages of Working With Yaham
One of the major advantages of working with us is that we offer smart monitoring of your display 24 hours a day as an option when you make your purchase. Should any irregularity or fault occur in the operation of your sign, the system will alert a maintenance team by triggering an alarm. This optional monitoring protects you in the event of extreme weather conditions, freak accidents, or intentional vandalism that you otherwise might not become aware of right away.
Our team consists of seasoned professionals with over 25 years of experience. We have completed 50,000 successful installs in countries around the world. Should you encounter any problems with your display, our international telephone assistance is available both day and night to provide both customer service and technical support.
One of the potential frustrations of purchasing signage for your building is buying from a third-party supplier. You can avoid the potential risks of working with a middleman when you buy Yaham products. As the manufacturer, we sell to you directly.
We have the flexibility to provide exactly the kind of display you need. If you need a sign for general use, we have them ready to ship. On the other end of the spectrum, we also have the capability to customize your product according to your specifications.
